I just completed my taxes and had to pay back the $250 Stimulus Check received from the VA. The information VA Disability Beneficiaries stimulus check information:

If you receive disability benefits from the VA, you will be among the thousands of individuals receiving this $250 stimulus check. Here is the information you need to know:
•	You will receive a one time $250 check.
•	You will receive the payment in the same method you receive your regular disability payment (direct deposit or physical check).
•	Your $250 stimulus payment will not be included in your regular VA disability payment.
•	The $250 stimulus check is not considered taxable income. Note: Not considered taxable income! Please clarify this action on my taxes to return the $250!

I just filed my taxes and there was an issue regarding the $250 one time payment for "Making Work Pay" tax credit for veterans on disability. Once I corrected my return and showed that I had received the tax credit, my return dropped $250. It seems as though the government just borrowed that money and just got it back. Am I missing something here?

"New car buyer’s tax credit"
It is a CREDIT, not a deduction. A credit is better than a deduction. You do not need to itemize to get this credit. Since it is not a deduction, it is not proper to call it an "above-the-line" deduction.
