Discover sent my wife a flier yesterday offering a Double Cashback Bonus on purchases made at US military bases worldwide. The promotion is running from Memorial Day – Labor Day (5/31/10 – 9/6/10).
The offer is good for the first $1,000 in base purchases, including the Commissary, Exchange (BX/PX, NEX, MCX), Shopette/Convenience Store, Exchange Gas/Service Station, and even the Exchange Catalog and Exchange online store!
The letter also stated the cash back bonus included any merchant within the perimeter of any US military base worldwide, so I assume that would include the small stores, cleaners, restaurants, Enlisted & Officer Clubs, etc.
Purchases above the $1,000 limit will receive rewards at the regular rate (which is 1% for my wife’s Discover Card).
That’s not a bad deal! Just be sure not to let an extra 1% cash back trick you into spending more money!
