Play Fantasy Football for a Chance to Win a Trip to the Super Bowl

I confess that I have a weakness. Every fall I sign up for a fantasy football league (or two, or three) and spend way too much time watching the games, tweaking my lineup, and working out trades. If this sounds like you, then we need to talk! This year I decided to create a league just for military members and veterans. Here is a little more about how you can join the league, and in the process, enter to win two tickets to Super Bowl XLVII courtesy of USAA.

USAA – the Official Military Appreciation Sponsor of the NFL

usaa official military appreciation sponsor nflUSAA is the official sponsor of Military Appreciation for the NFL and this year they are sponsoring a trip for two to Super Bowl XLVII. The best part: the prize is only open to military members and veterans!

USAA sent me a press release with the details, which are as follows:

Everyone enjoys a good rivalry. With the launch of the NFL Fantasy Football Military League, USAA is giving current and former military members the opportunity to go head-to-head with a rival service branch or unit buddies in some friendly competition. One lucky military member will even get to take their bragging rights all the way to New Orleans for Super Bowl XLVII – courtesy of USAA, the Official Military Appreciation Sponsor of the NFL!

To enter to win tickets to Super Bowl XLVII, current and former military members can create or join a fantasy football league at military.fantasy.nfl.com and must check the registration opt-in box which reads, “Military and Veterans: Click here for a chance to win two tickets to Super Bowl XLVII courtesy of USAA.” The once-in-a-lifetime experience includes two Super Bowl XLVII tickets, two passes to the official Super Bowl XLVII Tailgate, transportation and accommodations.

Play Fantasy Football to Win

Once USAA sent me the e-mail, I knew I had to share it with all of you. After all, Super Bowl tickets are hard to come by! And since you need to join a fantasy football league to enter the giveaway, I figured I should create a league just for our readers. If you would like to participate in a fantasy football league with me and a few like minded veterans, then keep reading, and I’ll let you know how you can join our league. (note: there are two ways to enter, you can join any fantasy football league at NFL.com to enter, or vist www.USAA.com/NFL during the Promotion Period and follow the instructions provided to complete and submit the Promotion registration form).

If you join a league, be sure to click the opt-in box which reads, “Military and Veterans: Click here for a chance to win two tickets to Super Bowl XLVII courtesy of USAA.” It should look like this:

Questions About Our League

I created a 12 team league and invited several servicemembers and veterans to join the league. They include my brother, a 17 year active duty member of the USMC, Jeff Rose, a veteran of the Army National Guard (Jeff blogs at GoodFinancialCents.com), and Hank Coleman, an active duty member of the US Army (Hank blogs at MoneyQ&A). I am a veteran of the USAF, so among the four of us, we have each branch of the service covered, with the exception of the Navy and the Coast Guard. I’m excited at the potential for trash talk!

Who can join the league. We only have two requirements to join our league: you are a current or former military member, and you want to play fantasy football – that’s it! Experience is preferable, but we won’t turn you down if you are genuinely interested in playing (if you simply want to enter the sweepstakes, but don’t want to play fantasy football, then please visit www.USAA.com/NFL to enter).

We currently have 8 open slots. If you are interested in managing one of those teams, please leave a comment on this article. We will also send this out to our newsletter, and solicit entries there. If we have more than 8 requests to join the league then we will need to do a random drawing. (This is the only way I can think to make it fair for everyone).

About the league. The plan is to make this a public league, meaning anyone can see the teams and ranks. It is a 12 team league with 2 divisions and standard scoring (4 points for passing TDs, and 6 points for rushing and receiving TDs). To make things easy, I basically used the default settings.

Interested in joining? Then please leave a comment below with your name, branch of service, and military status (active, veteran, etc.). If we have more than 8 interested players then I will use a random number generator to select the participants. As always, thanks for your service!
