Special Mortgage Rates for First Time Military Home Buyers

Certain Ohio residents are eligible for great mortgage rates for first time home buyers. The Ohio Heroes Program is a new first time home buyer program that aims to help Ohio residents in certain professions qualify for a 30-year, fixed rate mortgage.

These loans are made through the Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA) and are available to qualified full-time employees in the following professions:

  • Active Military
  • Emergency Medical Technicians
  • Firefighters
  • Healthcare Workers
  • Military Veterans
  • Paramedics
  • Police Officers
  • Teachers

Loans through the Ohio Heroes Program will be at a quarter percent below OHFA’s First-Time Homebuyer Program rates. The borrowers must meet OHFA’s standard mortgage guidelines, which provide low, competitive mortgage rates through conventional loans or FHA, VA and USDA-RD government loans. There are income and sales price limitations.

This is a great way for the state of Ohio to recognize the men and women who proudly serve her people.

About OHFA: The Ohio Housing Finance Agency is an independent OH state agency that offers affordable housing opportunities for Ohioans from rental assistance to homeownership. The Agency’s programs serve first-time home buyers, renters, senior citizens and other populations with special needs who otherwise might not be able to afford quality housing.
