It made getting our first (and only) home so much easier, and I'm grateful first to DH for his service to the country and to the VA Loan Guaranty program for providing such a great benefit. The best advice I would give someone who qualifies for the the VA mortgage is not to get tempted by the amount of house you can buy - we deliberately underbought and paid off the house early.
