When Can I File My Tax Return? The 2024 tax season officially opens Jan. 29. You can begin filing your 2023 return through IRS Free File before this date, but the IRS will not process them until later in the month. Paper tax returns may face additional delays. More than 90% of electronically filed tax refunds are processed and issued within 21 days.

The IRS processes tax returns as it receives them. If you file your tax return electronically, the IRS will generally process direct deposit refunds within 7-10 days of receiving your tax return, and process paper checks within about two weeks. Filing a paper tax return may delay your refund by up to several weeks.

When Can I File My Tax Return? The 2024 tax season officially opened Jan. 29. More than 90% of tax refunds are processed and issued within 21 days.

In filing your federal tax return, you may have a few questions: How much tax will I pay? How much will I get back in my tax refund? When will I receive it?

There is no quick and easy answer to the first two questions. However, we can give you a rough idea of when you will receive your tax refund – but only if you file your federal taxes electronically using a software program or with the IRS e-File. Nine out of 10 taxpayers receive their tax refunds within 21 days when they file electronically.

Expect longer delays if you file your return on paper because it takes longer for the IRS to process your paperwork. The tax refund chart below offers more information on when to expect tax refunds.

IRS Refund Schedule for Direct Deposits and Check Refunds

The following tax refund table is based on previous refund tables released by the IRS to help taxpayers know when they should receive their tax refunds. The IRS moved to the Modernized e-File System (MEF) in 2013 (2012 tax year). The IRS only issued refunds once per week under the old system. They now issue refunds every business day, Monday through Friday (except holidays).

Due to changes in the IRS auditing system, they no longer release a full schedule as they did in previous years. The following chart is based on IRS statements, published guidelines, and estimates from past years. This IRS refund schedule should only be used as a rough guideline.

How to Use the Tax Refund Chart

  • Use the left-hand column to look up the date your tax return was accepted by the IRS
  • Use the middle or right column to look up when you should receive your refund (depending on how you requested your refund – direct deposit or paper check).
  • If you want a PDF copy, download the 2024 Tax Refund Schedule here.

If you filed your taxes with e-File, you should receive a confirmation that the IRS accepted your federal tax return. This date will go in the left column. If you didn’t file your taxes electronically, then this chart may not be useful for you for two reasons: you won’t have a confirmation date regarding when your tax return was accepted, and paper tax returns are manually entered by IRS employees, so the process takes longer.

You will also note that this chart covers dates beyond the traditional filing date. If you plan to file after April 15, 2024, you should file a tax extension request. It’s simple to do and can potentially save you a lot of money in penalties.

Note: Military members deployed during the tax year may be eligible for additional tax deadline extensions.

When Will I Get My Tax Refund?

Keep in mind that it may take a few days for your financial institution to make your deposit available to you or several days for the check to arrive in the mail. Keep this in mind when planning to use your tax refund.

The IRS states to allow five additional days for the funds to become available to you. In almost all cases, a direct deposit will get you your tax refund faster than in five days, and in some cases, it will be available immediately.

Important Tax Filing Dates and Refund Dates

When Can I File My Tax Return?

The first official day to file your 2023 tax return is Jan. 29, 2024. However, many tax software programs will allow you to complete your return and “file” it before that date, including IRS Free File, which is currently open for the 2024 tax filing season.

Some taxpayers who submit their electronic tax returns early may be able to participate in the IRS HUB Testing program. This is a controlled testing of the federal tax return system. The IRS processes a small percentage of tax returns from major software providers to test the tax return submission process and allow for fixing bugs before opening the doors to all taxpayers.

When Are Taxes Due?

The tax filing deadline for most individuals and businesses for the 2023 tax year is April 15, 2024.*

April 15 is the tax deadline for most years unless it falls on a weekend or an observed holiday. April 16th is the observed holiday for Emancipation Day in Washington DC, which may impact the tax-filing deadline in some years.

* Note: Because Maine and Massachusetts celebrate Patriots Day on April 18, the tax filing deadline for residents may be extended.

You can file a tax extension before April 15 if you are not ready to file your taxes by the deadline. This year, the extended tax deadline is Oct. 15; however, any federal income tax payments are due by the original tax filing deadline. It is recommended to make an estimated tax payment before the tax deadline if you believe you will owe federal taxes.

How Long Does it Take to Get My Tax Refund?

Approximately 90% of taxpayers will receive their refunds in less than 21 days from the day the IRS accepts their tax returns. Most people receive their refunds in an average of 10-14 days.

Your bank will usually make your payment available within one to three days of receiving the payment from the IRS. Checks may take longer to clear your bank.

Are There Any Expected Tax Refund Delays?

Yes, tax refund delays are common. The IRS is required by federal law to withhold tax refunds for taxpayers who claim Earned Income Tax Credits and Additional Child Tax Credit until mid-February. Affected taxpayers can generally expect to receive their refunds by Feb. 27, 2024, with some seeing their refunds on Feb. 17 at the earliest.

Keep in mind that receiving your refund can still take a week after the IRS releases it. So some people who file early may experience delays while awaiting their refunds. Refunds should be processed normally after this date.

Also note that new identity theft protections and anti-fraud measures may hold up some refunds, as some federal tax returns may be held for further review.

How Should You Request to Receive Your Refund?

The IRS gives you three options for receiving your refund:

  1. Direct deposit (you can split your refund and have it sent to up to three banks)
  2. Paper check (sent to your home)
  3. Deposit into U.S. Savings Bonds

You can also apply a refund to any future taxes owed. This is a popular choice among some small business owners who are required to pay estimated taxes.

Of the three refund options available to you, direct deposit is the fastest and safest option. You can receive your refund via an ACH bank transaction in as little as a few days. Paper checks, however, can take over a week to process, several days to travel via the postal system, and several days to clear your bank.

*Note: Some tax software companies also offer the option of receiving a tax refund on a prepaid debit card. I’m not particularly fond of this option, but it is available to some tax filers. In this case, the refund is first sent to the tax preparation company. Then they issue you the prepaid debit card.

Tax Refund Schedule for Extensions and Amended Tax Returns

The refund schedule should be the same if you filed for a tax extension; however, there is no official schedule for tax refunds for amended tax returns. The above list only includes dates for e-filing an original tax return.

Amended tax returns are processed manually and often take 8-12 weeks to process. If you do not receive an amended tax return refund within eight weeks of filing it, you should contact the IRS to check the status.

How to Check the Status of Your Tax Return

You should be able to check the IRS tax refund status roughly 24 hours after you receive confirmation from the IRS that they have received your tax refund via e-File. You will need to wait at least four weeks if you mail in your tax return.

The best way to check the status of your federal tax refund is to visit the Where’s My Refund page at the IRS website.

What you will need:

  • Social Security number
  • Filing Status
  • Exact refund amount

You can also call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 (for individuals) or 1-800-829-4933 (for businesses) to inquire about your tax return status with an IRS customer service representative or call 1-800-829-4477 to reach the 24-hour toll-free service providing tax help from the IRS.

Note that the IRS only updates tax return statuses once a day during the week, usually between midnight and 6 a.m. They do not update the status more than once a day, so checking throughout the day will not give you a different result.

Should I Call the IRS to Check My Federal Tax Refund Status?

The IRS has stated you should only call them if it has been:

  • 21 days or more since you e-filed
  • Six weeks or more since you mailed your return, or when
  • “Where’s My Refund” tells you to contact the IRS

How to Get a Larger Tax Refund Next Year

If you want a bigger tax refund next year, then there are a few ways you can increase the amount of money the government will give you as a tax refund. One of the easiest ways is by contributing to a tax-deferred retirement plan such as a 401(k), the Thrift Savings Plan, or by opening a Traditional IRA, which may entitle you to a yearly tax credit based on your annual contributions. IRA contributions are currently limited to $7,000 for 2024, or up to $8,000 if you are age 50 or older. You can open an IRA in a variety of locations, including banks, brokerage firms, independent advisors, and more.

Getting Tax Relief if You Owe Money

If you go through the tax filing process and come out owing the government money, there are options for getting tax relief. You can negotiate directly with the IRS and state revenue agencies or hire a tax relief company to negotiate on your behalf.

If you owe less than $10,000 and your case is not complicated, you may be better off dealing directly with the IRS. Otherwise, tax relief experts such as tax attorneys and enrolled agents can save you time and improve your chances of negotiating generous terms on your tax settlement.

  2. Cassandra says

My return was accepted by the IRS on 1-31-2022. I filed electronically. Here it is 8-31-2022 and STILL NO REFUND! This is absolutely ridiculous!

  3. De Venn says

I filed January 25 and still waiting its been 5 weeks today. I did everything electronic and set up direct deposit.

  4. Shelly says

The 2022 table is inaccurate. I filed on February 3rd. I just received notification today, February 19th, that my refund will be direct deposited by Thursday, February 24th.

    • Brittany Crocker says

Hey Shelly! The IRS doesn’t publish tax refund charts anymore, so the dates in our charts are estimates based on previous IRS tax refund schedules. You may get your refund earlier or later than the estimated date, based on the auditing process and the complexity of your tax return.

      Thanks!

  5. C Smith says

I think this article is a complete lie, I filed in 2020 it took 6 months for a return. Here it is 2021 I filed in March and as of Aug 11, 2021 no response, no refund, and the government claims they want to aid the public through these troubling times but all of it is a lie. Hopefully you didn’t need your refund for you to make it another month.

    • Samantha Bodwin says

Imine was accepted April 17th 21day est.refund deposite date may 8th its july8th and still no refund

  6. Patricia Rothfuss says

    Good luck with that

Or calling. Months later still nothing and no one can give an answer as to why

  7. James A Jones says

Great website for information on IRS refund. I have been on hold for 83 minutes and I hope that a live agent picks up soon. Your tips really work.

    Thank you,
    Jim

  8. Charles M Brower says

Same story I mailed my return Feb 12,2021 and all I get when I check is
it’s being processed it’s a very very small refund and I’m a nobody but
you would think after 15 weeks .

  9. cathy says

same here. when I checked ‘where is my refund’ irs site and called ‘live person’ number they provide, all I got is that ‘we cannot find your information’.

  10. Jennifer E Murphy says

Filed Feb 18, accepted Feb 20 here it is may 20th and still nothing. IRS tells me it’s in the errors department. Nothing wrong with it or so they say but we qualified for the rebate credit. Beyond furious with people who take out money without fail but can’t seem to issues refunds within a timely manner. I see a lot of people who filed after March getting there’s within days here I am waiting months wtf

  11. Melissa Boyd Netting says

I’m also getting frustrated I filed January 8th got accepted February 13th and I still have not received anything from IRS or the government I haven’t got any of my stimulices and you can’t get through when you call to the IRS it’s just autom stuff so I really like some answers too I’m getting I’m getting ready to be home to send and I have kids and I got to take care of grandkids

    • c bl says

I filed April 5th and I still haven’t received my refund either. Very frustrating as we all need our money! I’ve tried to call but all you get is automated system and I’ve tried all sorts of numbers and tricks to get through and nothing works I check on my “where’s my refund” every day and nothing. It just says “being processed”. I asked my Tax Pro and she couldn’t get an answer either.
Yet, if you owe money I bet they would be right on top of that!!!!!

  12. Gregory Ziebert says

I filed my taxes. They were accepted, and prepared. I was given an April 26th anticipation date to have it direct deposited into my bank account. I haven’t received anything in my bank account yet. When they give you an anticipated refund date, shouldn’t it be deposited into your bank account on that date.

  13. Amanda Smith says

Hey I filed on 2/18 was accepted on 2/19 it’s been two months where my refund I got bills to pay o need my refund.

    • Patty Hamilton says

I filed for my taxes on March 13th 2020 and I haven’t received my taxes back yet. My taxes was accepted.

  14. Dan says

I filed electronically on February 13th as Head of Household with one dependent. It was accepted two days later. However, it’s April 22nd and it is still showing as in processing. I also have not received my 3rd stimulus payment, same status essentially. Every time I have called, it says due to call volume they cannot take calls. Frustrating, I am not sure what I can do but wait really…

    • Eddie. Gonzales says

Eddie Gonzalez, I am still not received any payments from the government stimulus payments or tax return we really wonder what’s going on, why I still haven’t received any answers or any questions? If something is wrong, I really would like some answers as soon as possible. But no telephone, and when they do, they don’t give you an answer. It’s in processing, that’s all I get. How long do you take to process, it’s been two and a half months? I am homeless already and need some assistance as soon as possible.

  15. VL says

I e-filed my taxes on the 2nd of March, it was accepted shortly after, it is now April 16th and the bar that’s usually there is gone and it just says that it is still being processed. I thought I was the only one going through this but as I was reading the comments I see that I am not. I have tried to call but can never get through to a person just the automated system. I understand a slight delay but this is frustrating.

  16. YC says

I filed electronically, Feb 17th, and it was accepted. As of 4/15 I still have not gotten my refund direct deposited. I got my refund from the state in 5 days. I have NEVER waited this long for a federal refund to be direct deposited. It usually comes within 7 days. All the website says is that it is being processed. 8 WEEKS!!!

  17. DH says

Hello. My accountant filed my electronic tax return on Saturday, March 27, 2021 but I have not received my direct deposit electronically as of April 14 today. It says on the app that the IRS has received my return, but nothing else. Doesn’t this seem longer than usual for direct deposit refund to be sent? I received my state refund within days of March 27, in the middle of the next week.

  18. Jo says

We filed on March 3, 2021, but the website and app weren’t working at the time and when everything came back up, it’s useless. We get a single sentence “it’s processing and a date will be are available to you soon”. The entire ‘received, accepted, paid’ bar has disappeared from the website and we have no idea when (or if) it was accepted. It’s been like that for weeks. My husband was out of work all last year (without unemployment benefits) and we’ve got five kids. We need our tax return but with the changes to the new credits, I fear it’ll never come. How are these changes impacting returns that were filed and received but still processing at the time of the change?

  19. Inga person says

I filed January 11th ,and it was accepted on the 12th of February and now it’s processing I’m trying to find out what is happening with it how much longer should it be until I get it back

  20. Brittany says

My tax return was accepted February 13th and I still haven’t got my deposit. What do I need to do? I’ve done called the IRS and nobody answered!

  21. Brandy Starling says

I filled taxes February 22 it was accepted February 23rd by TurboTax and it said it was supposed to be deposited by the 12th of March and it’s still not there why is it not there

    • Gerald says

I’m having the same problem my taxes say they were accepted but I still haven’t received anything and I have no bars on the on the IRS website

  22. Elleena Cantrell says

My return was accepted February 13 and tody is the day anticipated for me to receive my direct deposit. However there’s not any place that I can find to check the status of my refund that says I’m getting it. H&R Blocks Where My refund hasn’t changed since February 23 and it says the IRS is preparing my refund. The IRS Where’s My Refund hasn’t changed since filing and it says that my return is being processed. I don’t know what to do. I’m in am extremely bad bind and I have an urgent need to receive my money

  23. Javier M says

I Filed Feb 8, accepted Feb 9. the system irs.gov/refunds says accepted and processing. no EITC or child credit. my cousins have both they were accepted approved and received there refund. mine shows topic 150 which is common with no issue, unsure what the hold up is

  25. Charlie says

I had my return accepted on Feb 13 also..the “refund status” only show accepted, as yours does, but no pending transaction is showing. Makes me wonder now if there’s an error in my routing info…can’t seem to be able to go back to e-file to recheck the. Info I entered…or: wrong number, etc.

  26. Joanie says

    2/20/2021

I filed first thing, and had my return accepted 2/13. Just wanted to say that the IRS “where’s my refund” tool may not be accurate. It keeps showing my returns accepted but refund not approved or sent, and yet my credit union shows the refund pending for deposit on 2/24. Wanted to give folks a heads up in case the refund tool info is not accurate, check with your direct deposit account.

  27. Jackie Timmons says

I filed March 3 and only received my state. No federal and no stimulus till this day (June 15th) . When I checked the stimulus it said it was sent in the mail close to two weeks ago. Why would they send it in the mail when I have direct deposit set up? This is unbelievable and you can’t get in touch with anyone to see why things are happening the way that they are

  28. Nicole says

    I filed 1/17/2020
I was accepted in January, received a 12 C letter 2/17/20 faxed papers 3/18 and still no movement. After 8 plus weeks my wages and income transcript finally shows up online but that’s the only transcript that has updated. Does this mean they have finally looked at my return ? HELP

  29. Josh A says

I filed in Feb and have still not received my refund. The IRS tracker just says it’s processing and will provide a date of when I should expect it sometime in the future. I received my stimulus check weeks ago. Is there any number I can call to see what the hold up is?

  30. Lisa Dawn says

will i still get the Stimulus Check? I am senior 84 fixed in come and i have low income I am not a spammer………..

  32. Beth says

So, I filed my taxes 4/20, on 4/24 they got accepted. Yesterday 5/1 it says approved, but hasnt done the last step which is sent. I used turbo tax again this year and used my taxes to pay the fee, so my understanding is that the IRS sends my taxes to turbo tax and they take out the fee and then finally they sent it to me direct deposit. Has anyone done it that way? If so, how long did it take for your taxes to go from the IRS to turbotax, back to your direct deposit?

Next time I’m not going to take the fee out of my taxes, I feel like it made things longer. My mom got her taxes back after filing after 10 days and she had more complicated taxes than myself. Hmmm.

    Anyones input would be great.

    Thanks, Beth

  33. octavius k tealer says

my date was April 30 and I didint get my deposit do anybody know the date we should receive ours

  34. Stacy says

I filed Jan. 21st (ahead) received my state by Feb 7th. Still have not received my Federal refund (which has now been over 21 days and surely 6 weeks) and of course nothing has changed on the IRS “check my refund” status and NO WAY to actually speak to someone with COVID -19 interrupting for everyone. STAY SAFE!

  35. George J.E. Sakkal says

I have never, repeat, never had to wait this long to receive my tax return. I have been waiting now for six weeks. This is ridiculous and irresponsible!. On Monday, April 27th I will be filing complaints with both my Senator and Congress Rep requesting that there be an oversight investigation of why the IRS’s tax division is not providing tax payers with their tax refunds. After a month and a half of waiting , it is simply scandalous! I am 78 years on a fixed income and I need that money to pay my bills.. SCANDALOUS!!!.

    • Eva P Smith and Rush H Smith says

I received a return receipt on July 10 from IRS. Still haven’t received a refund. When I go to “where’s my refund” I’m told to check my information and put it in again. My husband and I file jointly so I have put in both our SS numbers and time we filed and the amount of refund. It still says they haven’t found our return.

      • Eva P Smith and Rush H Smith says

I have never had to wait this long and even though it will take longer this year, I would like to know the status of my return.

  36. duane says

  37. Carol Little says

I filed my taxes 2/29/2020 It’s been a little over 6 weeks and I have nothing pending in the irs app at all. I am beyond upset. I can’t speak with a live agent due to this Coronavirus and at this point I’m irritated. I file a paper return every year and this is the first time it ever took this long

  38. Anna says

  48. Dwayne says

My deposit was suppose to be sent the 26th but I recived mine on the 25th a day early. It all depends on your bank once the irs sends it. Good luck to all.

  49. Blessed2020 says

My return was accepted on 2/3/2020 and it’s still saying received and being process. I usually will have an approval and deposit date by now. What’s the hold up? Haven’t received any letters from the IRS either. Do you think it will come around the first week of March?

    • Deborah Kay Parker says

I filed 2-9- and mine still says process I think they are using this virus as a excuse, they can work from home geez 3 months and cant even talk to anyone bunch of bs. but yet talking about sending out the reilf checks, hell give me my income tax.

      April 8, 2021

This is the status I’m getting. We filed March 3, 2021 and the website and app were busted and when they came back up, this is all I get. It’s been more than a month since we e-filed with DD and no money. We don’t get state taxes in Texas, so it’s extremely frustrating when my husband has been out of work for the last year and we’ve got five kids. No answers and we need that money.

  54. Brook says

Its says I am suppose to receive my refund on the 24th , I used the same card as last year and last year I got instantly . Website says the issue refunds between 12:00 a.m. -6:00 a.m. . Anybody have any opinions ?

  55. Carousell says

  56. Brittiny says

I did mine at H&R block. They were filed and accepted on Feb 4th, yesterday they were still processing, and today Feb 22nd I was given a DD day of feb 26th. I filed HOH and child tax credit. I have not received my state yet. I’m from Ohio.

  57. Eric says

I have a DDD by March 2, but she’s topic 203. I called the hotline but no debits are in file I searched and heard it can be because I chose pay with my income on turbo tax. Has anyone experience this in the pass? Any info would be appreciated thanks.

  58. Starryj2 says

Hello Everyone, Check your refund status.

  59. Dwayne says

Meosch what was the date they gave you. Also has anyone received their state tax return yet. I have heard of a couple people getting their state before federal loo this year. Please let me know.

  60. Brett says

Just checked my transcripts. I owed IRS 2300 and had EIC with max credits and small business and filled joint and it shows as of now they took what they owed and issued my refund and does it date it 2/26/19. Didn’t show that this morning! Hope everyone gets there’s soon!!!!!! I’m

  61. Tenaya Claiborne says

I called the IRS and they said to wait up to an additional 45 days from March 2,2020 to receive my refund , it’s under additional review because of the EIC.

  62. Dwayne says

Starryj2 I checked this morning and still the same. Please let me know if your changed. Today is my 21st day. This is getting retarded now. Wow. Thank you for letting me know.

    • Meosch says

Dwayne I agree, it’s starting to get real annoying. My 21st day was on the 16th. I filed on 1/13, it got accepted on 1/27. Then on 2/16 it said it was received and being processed. It’s been a month since I filed and almost a month since it got accepted.

      • Heather Stewart says

Same with me. I checked today. I should have received my refund Monday. Maybe by the 28th.

    • Starryj2 says

Hello Dwayne check this morning still the same. I filed 01-27-20, accepted the Same day. Wow I’m thinking the weekend update.

  63. Tori says

I filed mine on 1/13/20, they were accepted 1/27/20 so I too was expecting a refund by 2/17 given the 21 day window they provided. After digging and digging, I figured out there’s an exception to the about statement. If you DO have the Earned Income Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit it’s UP TO 21 days from the day they accepted those, which would be 2/15/20, putting the 21 day mark at 3/7/20. Not saying it will come that late but technically that’s within the 21 day grace period they advised of. Just thought I’d share this tidbit of info.

    • Meosch says

Wow, that’s crazy. I filed on 1/13, it was accepted on 1/27. It was received and processing on 2/16, I’m just waiting on my ddd (direct deposit date). If we get in March, that means we would’ve waited almost 2 months to get our refund. Hopefully I get a date by at least Saturday. I’ll keep you updated.

  64. Angel says

I did my taxs refund on the 23 of January and still didnt get my taxs and I did my deposit on my bank , do anyone knows when am I gonna get it ?

  65. Dwayne says

Has anyone received any updates yesterday or today with earned income tax credit or child tax credit. Please let me know. Thank you

  66. Meosch Gayden says

I called the irs #…the representative stated that because I got the earned income credit, that I won’t see a direct deposit date until before or after the 22nd of February. He also said that they won’t be sending out the first “wave” of deposits (for the early filers) until the first week of March. I filed on the 13th of January, it was accepted on the 27th of January. I was received and being processed on the 16th of February.

  67. Brett says

Has anyone looked at their transcripts and have code 570?? Mine says deposit date March 2nd on the transcripts. Topic 152 on wmr and no bars??????

  68. Gary says

IRS agents have told me EIC/CTC refunds will be 17 FEB, but that’s a holiday so I expect to start hearing people confirm tuesday 18 FEB as direct deposits start rolling out.

  69. Dwayne says

Starryj2 as of today it still says the same thing being processed. Let me know if anything changed on your and. Thank you..

      • Dwayne says

Starryj2 thank you for letting me know I am checking mine now to see what it says. I will let you know. Yea I bet the system does most of the work and can only do so much at a time. And I bet for the earned income tax credit people who filed early have had their refunds processed and waiting til the 15th and once the 15th hit the system started updating and what not. Will let you know of any change please do the same. Thank you.

  70. J says

Just a heads up, as for the date that says people who filed between Feb 3 – 9th should expect their returns on February 17th, I am pretty sure that will NOT happen. February 17th is Presidents day.

  71. Troy Niehus says

Earned income credit and additional child tax credit can’t start being processed until Feb 15th! Also you can file taxes early but they didn’t start accepting tax returns until January 25-27th which means even if you filed tax return early you won’t be able to get refund until they start processing them. Early filers that did it early and have no earned income or additional child tax credits should be getting refunds now or very soon. I filed mine and was accepted on Feb 9th shows they got them so I assume now that they can start processing tomorrow I expect refund by end of next week or no later than end of month! I’m in Wisconsin and we get homestead credit for rent and for taxes I did that and was accepted but I’m sure that will be near end of Month before I receive them also. I’m just putting it in savings anyway.

  72. Meosch says

I filed my taxes on 1/13/2020

    It got accepted 1/27/2020

As of today 2/11/2020, I haven’t heard anything.

I am also have the eitc, I don’t remember it taking this long last year. If anyone who has filed with the eitc, please reply back.

    • Starryj2 says

They will be updating on February 15,2020. Last year I got my tax refund on Feb 27 2019 the last week in Feb. Some of my friends got their refund two weeks before me so yes keep calling or go on IRS refund status. My status on line just have 152 .

      • Meosch Gayden says

Yes my status still says topic 152. Last year I got my taxes around this time. It’s always the second week of February for me, I just don’t remember it ever being like this. I have a friend (who claims 2 kids), hers were accepted on the 22nd instead of the 27th. I just want my money lmao

      • J says

The 15th, today, is a Saturday. They’re updating on a Saturday? I didn’t think the IRS worked more than 9-5, Mon-Fri

    • Dwayne says

It states above that by federal law if you claim earned income credit or additional child credit that the irs has to wait til the 15th of february.

      • Meosch Gayden says

That’s so crazy, I filed a month ago today. My 21 day mark will be the 16th, from the day it got accepted. I just want my money Lmaooooooo

      • Dwayne says

Yea I feel you on that. I filed on the 28th of January and still dont have my refund accepted mark on the bar on the where’s my refund website. I need plates on my truck and got to get exhaust put on it before I can get it plated and need the money to do it. Have you got your refund accepted mark yet.

      • Meosch Gayden says

Yea my was marked accepted on the 27th. As of yesterday (2/16) it was marked that it was received and is processing. They were closed today, so I’m going to check back tmw.

      • Jely says

I checked the where’s my refund status this morning and the bar is completely gone…. But yes, Monday is Presidents day

      • Dwayne says

Starryj2 yea my status bar is gone and saying they cant release funds til mid to late february. The 152 thing. Yesterday and the days before I had a status bar. I dont know what’s going on. I filed Jan. 30th. I know since the earned income tax credit thing it will take to the 15th but its today and they dont work Saturday’s. And yes monday is a holiday so we will see no update til wednesday morning. Because their system updates once a day between midnight and 7 am. So they come back to work tuesday and the system updates that night so. I would look for an update then. Please let me know if you hear anything as I will do the same. Thank you for your update.

      • Starryj2 says

Dwayne no orange status bar. I did check last night still 152 no update till this morning. IRS we have received your tax return and it is being processed. Check your status and let me know.

      • Eric Rodriguez says

Irs says they received my return and being processed. I been it’s all computerized therefore weekends and holidays they still process

      • Dwayne says

Starryj2 I just checked mine and I got the same thing. We have received your refund and is being processed. So probably tomorrow or the next day we should get a deposit date. Fingers crossed. Lol.. let you know of any change thank you.

    • J says

Well I don’t know anything about eitc but they say that you should expect your refund 21 days (give or take a few) after your refund has been accepted. If you refund was accepted on Jan 27th 21 days from then is Feb 17th, BUT that’s Presidents day so it’ll more than likely be the 18th IF there are not any delays.

  73. Moe says

Has anyone gotten there second orange light for refund being approved yet? Referring to the where’s my refund site..

    • Laura B. says

Mine was filed on Jan. 28 and havent heard nothing on approval and to top it off I havent gotten my advancement from turbo tax either I desperately need I’ll wait for the rest .but I was left in a very tight spot and running out of options.

How long does it usually take to get your federal refund after receiving your state refund?

My Husband a. I FILED BY PAPER FEB.18, 2019 FOR THE TAX YEAR 2018 , WE FILE INJURED SPOUSE FORM, HAVE A 16 YEAR OLD DEP, AND A 2 YEAR OLD GRAND CHILD LIVING WITH ME ALSO, IT USUALLY ONLY TAKE 14 WEEKS TO GET OUR MONEY, NOW IT COMING UP ON 6 MONTHS , when we call they keep hanging up on us after hanging on the phone for 45 mins, I guess they keep our money to make money.. we just want our Refund.

  79. Thankful THOT says

The list states the IRS deposits on Monday’s, but I don’t know of anyone who’s received their refund on a Monday.

I filed an extension and filed taxes on 7/24 and thus should receive refund on 8/5, which has passed. However I have the standard bars and there’s no errors, just the standard Topic 152 comment. I’m assuming I’ll receive this Friday but has anyone received the refund without ever actually getting a date? For those who are delayed, did your Where’s My Refund page change?

  80. Laurie says

I am also having the same issue, I field my taxes Jan 28th and as of today it states is still being processed, I filed my boyfriends months later he already received his, his son’s I filed and he has gotten his, I also did my parents last day of filing returns and guess what they already got theirs back too. Can’t ever get anyone to answer the phone have tried every number possible. But if you owe they are sure to get their money plus interest. So aggravating!!!

  81. Nicole says

I filed my taxes back in Feb. I still have not received my refund. I have called several times and I get a different answer every single time. I even called my employers and my tax accountant to make sure all was filed or correct on my tax information. It is so frustrating because I can’t just get a clear answer.

  82. david says

i have same problem .my 2014 taxs were not filed and i got a letter telling me they were holding my 2019 return until i file my 2014 return so i did and its been 6 week since i sent them my 2014 and i still have no refund from 2019…can anybody shed some light on this for me please?.

    • Cody says

I just went through this so I thought I would give you my experience. You probably won’t like my answer. But, it is what it is! So IRS will not tell you this until they have reached there max amount of time they have. Now and they won’t tell you this as if 2018 you will not get back taxes 3 years prior to 2019. I waited 4 months to get this answer after being told it was in proxy. Contacted attorneys tax advocates and all same answer new law does not refund past three years. I found this out the long and hard way. And I still feel like I’m ******* out of 2000$. And why did they even ask me to file gave me 4 dates of return and check being issued? It sucks but I don’t want you to expect something that might not be coming at all as I did.

      • Aaron b says

That’s not true! We just filed for tax year 2015 and it took 3 months but after they processed it we got $6,500 back.

      • Page says

Aaron b … it is accurate, the new law goes back 3 yrs…. so think about it, you just filed 2015 return, we are currently filing for 2018 year (even though its the YR 2019), so you are in the 3yr period!

    • Michelle Ehlers says

My husband & I filed our taxes e file on March 14,they were excepted the next day, this is now August 1,,,,, still no refund, we did finally reach someone at the IRS, I don’t understand any of it, they said we’re on another 60 day review,,, 2nd. We received no letter, no message to call or anything , just left hanging,,, now that’s not right , especially when you really depend on that money,, anyways Good Luck,!

  83. Tammy S. says

My husband and I filed our taxes on time this year and we were supposed to get a refund back. 4 Weeks later received a letter stating that are 2014 taxes have not been received so they were holding our check. We filed this year’s taxes on April 1st. Today’s date is July 17th and we still have no tax refund. I can’t go back in file 2014 cuz they stated in the letter they were holding it holding our 2019 tax refund until we submitted our 2014 return. It’s now been six weeks after her manually sending a paper return on 2014. Still no word. Nothing’s changed on the status. What do I do?

  84. Latifah says

Just asking when would I get my refund been waiting for so long and why it still saying processing and nothing else

  85. Pamela Browder says

Our income tax was accepted on 3/8/19 it says same thing still be processed what do we do .I think they should pay interest ,ready to get an attorney.

  86. Over it says

So update on what my problem was. My income was not reported to the social security office and made it look like I did not really work so that is what initially put me into a review. I ended up sending in my w2 and about 3 days after my information was magically updated on the social security website, 3 days after that I finally got a date on Sunday for June 12th. Hang in there everyone.

  87. Phil G says

I mailed my return in sometime early April. Because I was a previous ID theft person I need to send in my W2 but forgot. I got the letter explaining what I needed to do and they received my return again on the 1st of May. Just today it was approved and should receive by the 5th.

I am ok with the extra time to make sure that I am the only one filing this return.

Some cases here are very unfortunate and I hope you receive your taxes ASAP but let them do their due diligence. This is our only defense against tax fraud as they won’t catch any of them unless they are dumb as rocks.

Of course it would be nice if there was a bit more access and info from their system and a better way to contact with them about individual cases, but can you imagine every slack jawed yokel in their recliner that they made to look like the game of thrones chair from tinfoil calling you every day asking “where’s muh money, Bro Namath?”
    Nobody would get anything done.

I hope everyone gets there money ASAP myself included. Good luck all

  88. Chin says

I am from Singapore and not a resident of USA.
I filed a 2015 tax return and was received by IRS on Dec 20th 2018.
IRS told me that my refund check was mailed out on April 19th 2019 but till now I still have not gotten it.
I called them but was told it will take up to 9 weeks to get my check which does not make sense.
The postal system here is quite efficient and I should receive it some time ago.
I also have another refund mailed out on May 10th 2019, but same thing..nothing in my mailbox.
I’ve mailed from the US to Singapore before and it only takes within a week to get here.
    So…what can I do???

  89. Kim says

    Was your tax transcripts right?
Where’s my return does say anything but my transcript no says 0 and says proceed release on 5/30/19 I was just curious since the transcript already says 0 if I will get it sooner or if it will be the 30th like it states

  90. Over it says

So I filed in January received a letter March 4 saying they would be done by April 18, then on March 7 received a 60 day letter fast foreward May 16 I called and a representative told me that my employer did not send in my income documents to the social security office so I was placed on another 60 day via phone. She claimed there was another letter sent out for May 9th stating this. What bs.

    • Gw says

Same thing happened to me so I called my boss and had her reissue my w2 to the IRS last week and I finally have a DDD of this week!

    • Joshua Mears says

Mine was filled in February and was accepted February the 10th I called after 21 days and they said I was on a sixty day review so I called again after sixty days and they said I should be getting them within a week and I still have received any thing it has been almost 90 days I called back tonight and asked for a supervisor and they wouldn’t transfer me they instead hung the phone up on me.

      • Jorge says

Wtf are you serious see that’s how i know the IRS is BS everyone. I got a tax advocate i recommend everyone getting in touch with one.

      • Charlotte Perdue says

What phone number can you call to talk to a live person? I only get a recording.

      • Nicole says

I’ve been waiting since Feb. I called them several times. I get a different answer each time.

      • Jack Attack says

That’s what you get for being cheap and not using TurboTax. It costs like $40, ensures there are no errors and thus no holdups, and you you get your money 5c faster. If you e-file the IRS confirms receipt in 1-2 days. If you mail it takes 4 weeks just to confirm receipt. Why anyone would Mail is beyond me.

      • alice boyd-grady says

ive been waiting since FEB. called 1000x nobody can tell me what to do got an advocated and that didn’t help ****. i bet if i owed them they would get they money on time

Same here. I did mine on 1/17/2020. It got accepted on 1/27/2020. And still nothing. I know my date said 2/17/2020 but since it was presidents day i didn’t receive it. So I am hoping by tomorrow

      • Melinda Coffey says

I filed on 01/28/2020, was received the same day and started being processed. I got my transcript with the date of 02/17/2020 on it but of course all banks were closed due to the holiday. I spoke to an IRS agent today and was told my refund arrived at the bank, and it should be released onto my debit card no later than 02/20/2020. I hope this was helpful..

  97. Barbara Brown says

Thank God I received a date finally after sending my 8962 form I pray. That all of you will get a date soon

  98. Kayla says

I had the same thing and it was identity theft. I went yesterday to finally fix it. I had to call the irs and give them the code and they sent me a letter and once I got the letter I could do it online or over the phone. I did over the phone but didn’t have enough info so I had to go in. My appt took 15 minutes.

Has anyone else had their return sent for Review and told that it could take 45 days to receive it? Wondering if it really takes 45 days? They said they have to contact my employer because the income on My W2 didn’t match what they had.

    • J says

Yes I did. Told me the same thing but not true. I’m waiting 45 days from march 11th. I think they are just so behind. I havnt seen any new msgs saying if they got their refund before the 45 days. I still havnt recieved anything yet, so I couldn’t say.

      • Danni says

So I finally received my letter yesterday but a rep had already informed me of what I needed to send in last week. I called today to make sure it has been received and to see how long it will take from here. They said to allow 6 to 8 wks for my return to finish being processed. I’m hoping it doesn’t take that long. Has anyone received their return sooner that needed to fax in additional information?

  110. J says

Something is wrong call IRS 800 829-0922 it is time to speak to a live agent. I filed on 02-15-19 my direct deposit was 03-13-19 receive my refund into my account on 03-12-19. You filed before the 15th of February.. you filed on 02-02-19
Usually when it’s longer like that either IRS doing an Audit on your taxes. or real heavy delays processing refunds.. Misa I hope you get your refund ASAP..

      My Respect

  120. Susan White says

I filed mine electronically on the 7th of febuary. Didn’t get it in the normal 21 day time frame. Talked to someone at the IRS who told me it is being delayed because I claimed the child tax and earned income tax credit. Now I have to wait until they process it since their has been fraud claiming both of these. She told me a letter would be sent with instructions on what they need. She told me the letter would be mailed within a week but I am still waiting for it. How long will all this take before I get my refund? This is the first time it has ever been late. Has anyone else been through this? If so what is the soonest timeframe? Are we talking weeks or monthes?I need this money by August 1st.

  121. Sean says

Uhhggg … the bottomline here is that the federal bohemoth is predicably inefficient and woefully incapable of conceiving a simple means by which folks can track the progress of their return/refund. The IRS squanders our money hosting lavish ’employee appreciation’ conventions in swank venues, squanders money on lame low budget employee training videos with a stupid Star Trek theme, they pay each other ridiculous bonuses (for doing nothing) on top of their cush taxpayer provided federal employee benefits packages, and yet we have to deal with a stupid Where’s My Refund app that only updates once a day with esoteric info requiring most of us to read tea leaves just to know WTF our refunds are!

  122. Julie says

Filed Jan 31st, recieved Jan 31st. Waited till after Feb 15th to call, IRS lady said if I havnt received anything by march 18th 2019 to call them back. I have EITC code still showing below the “date will show when it becomes available” message. Anyone else going through the same thing? Last year went through fine. Should I be worried?

    • Julie says

Update on mine. My former employer did not file their papers correctly so it’s like I never worked there. So now I have to wait for them to get those papers before I see anything on my return 🙁 what jerks….. isnt that against the law on the old jobs part????

      • Frustrated says

Have you received your return or any info on when you will get your return yet? Asking because my employer also didn’t file my paperwork properly and it was sent for review. Told me could take 45 days from March 25th which didn’t make sense to me!

    • Aaron Liupaogo says

I filed the same day as you. Used to be bars, now no bars. Just saying IRS processing still and will give me a date. This is to long

  123. Tim says

As much as i’ve visited this page in the last month, the least i can do is recap my journey for others that need as much info as possible:

    – Filed electronically using Drake Software (yes, that is the name) on January 28, filed single with no dependents and selected the direct deposit option of payment
    – Federal and state accepted early morning on January 29
    – State tax refund deposited on February 5 (California)
    – Bars disappeared around February 5, replaced only with the “Still Processing” message
    – Received Identity Verification letter on February 23, there was no indication of this on WMR however. Remained “Still Processing”
    – Verified identity via phone call on February 28, was told by IRS agent that processing will now continue and to follow up in 9 weeks if no refund had been received
    – WMR status changed back to “Received and Processing” message on March 4
    – Refund approved early morning March 9 with a DDD of March 13
    – Refund appeared in Citibank account at 1am on March 13. WMR still shows “Refund Approved”. I am not sure if WMR actually displays when Refund Sent (the last bar) but it is still on the Approved message as of 4pm PST

I hope I was as descriptive as possible, I was in your shoes for 6 painful weeks and i definitely know the feeling of waiting around for some evidence of progress. I will still check in periodically to answer any questions you may have to ease your mind through this process. Peace and love to you all.

  127. Me says

I filed on february 13th it said it was accepted on the 16th. 21 days from there would of been march 9th to receive my refund so i call the irs and the lady it wasnt accepted til the 20th. 21 days from that is march 13th and my bars are still gone and its still saying its being processed and a date will be available as soon as they recieve one…

    UPDATE:

All of the above info remains the same except on the app the bar is blue and on my laptop the IRS Where’s My Refund bar is ‘warm’ red to orange in color. Does this mean anything? Is there suppose to be a difference in color between the app and online via a personal computer?

  129. Tim says

Filed mine electronically through Tax Slayer on Feb 24th – IRS accepted it on the 24th at 11:54 (time of Tax Slayer’s notification). I have a bar (it’s blue) and it shows return received (dark blue) with refund approved and refund sent parts still grayed out. At the bottom it shows ‘Tax topic 152, refund information.’ According to the chart above, March 12th was my approximate DD day. What does a ‘warm bar mean?’ Does a blue bar mean I’m good to go?

  130. Mrs. Boone says

I mailed mine on 3-4-19. I did direct deposit . When should I start checking where’s my refund? Or should I give it the full month before trying to check?

  131. Eyvonne Ford says

I have a question I mailed my paper return over nite on the 26 of Feb and got confirmation that they recieved it on the 27th about how long will it be before I get my refund????

  132. Pearl says

If they say 03-13-19 that’s when your refund will be delivered or deposit into your account. Either midnight or tomorrow. When it has been approved look on the left hand corner at the bottom, it should say deposit March 13, 2019

    • Felicia says

I’m confused by the comment posted that it takes a certain amount of days from the sent date. I’m remember it’s amsay hit my account on the sent date. I was only looking for information to provide a possible time of day. But now I am nervous by the comments about it going to take this many days for this type of bank and this many of days for this type of bank!! My release date is for the third of April. Tomorrow. Technically in 36 minutes.. lol!!

  133. gina says

I filed my taxes with turbo tax on feb 4 so on feb 16 the irs said they had recieved my return and my taxes are being processed. On March 9 website says its approved and is being sent to my bank by march 13. so does anyone know if my money will be in my bank account by tomorrow which is the 13th

      • Cynthiawomack says

I got a ddd date for 3/13 and mines say direct deposit but my tax provider said my.check coming through FedEx have any body every heard that

  134. Pearl says

I filed 02-15-19 my refund was accepted that same day 02-15-19. It says “Received” in the warm status. On the 02-27-19 my warm bar disappeared my message was “Refund is still processing a refund date will be available” March 6th I called IRS 800 829-0922 the IRS agent told me sorry about The delays. She told me they’re processing my refund. She said they’re trying very hard to process peoples refunds ASAP!! For March. March the 8th at 11pm my warm bars came back on. Now it said refund date is 03-13-19 deposit into your account. It should be credit into your account 03-13-19 no later than 03-18-19.
If you have Credit Union it only takes three days I just look at my account today 03-12-19 its there on hold to be released. It will release at 5pm today
If you have a regular bank like “Wells Fargo or Chase or Bank of America or any other banks it takes 7days it will be deposit that same day or on the 03-18-19. Credit Unions is a lil faster than Regular banks when it comes to direct deposit.
Some does. Majority credit unions is a lil faster than regular banks. If you are over 21 days I will give IRS a call so you can see what is going on with your refund. My days make 21 day. March 7th made 21 days. March 8th when they gave me my Direct Deposit Date 03-13-19. This whole thing can be overwhelming.. cause these peoples in the USA need there tax refunds to catch up on their bills.. especially if some people had been affective through that shut down. I hope everybody gets there refunds ASAP!! Because IRS really don’t know what peoples are going through financially!!! I’m so sorry if peoples been filed before. Especially since January 2019 and the 1st week of February and did not received no refund or DDD dates as well.. some people have gotten there refunds before me and after me. I hope everybody or everyone gets their refunds..

  135. Gearld says

I filed Jan 31 2019 received a letter from the IRS telling me to call them called and they said they wanted to make sure I was the person who filed I think some of those people are ****** at trump so this is their way of payback.

  136. Krys says

If your ddd is 3-13-19 & You have a turbo tax card, would it be on their any earlier or just on the 13th? Just was wondering because I’m so broke it’s unreal right now.

  137. jessica says

i filled feb 8th and it was accepted on feb 14th and i received my refund on feb 26th i claimed child tax credit and had direct deposit

    • Tiffany Byer says

How many days did it take for your bar to go from received to approved then from approved to paid?

    • Ariana Warrington says

I filed the 1st of March and both my state and federal was accepted the same day. On the 9th of March it went from accepted to approved with a direct deposit date on the 13th of March. Woke up this morning and it was in my account. I claimed the EIC as well. So it took exactly 12 days for me to get my refund back. 1-800-304-3107 is a great number to call to see if you have a tax offset and from whom. But this only works if you don’t owe the IRS directly, but if you know you have student loans, child support, etc. this will let you know from whom and how much. I hoped this helped you guys!

    • Danna says

I filed on the 5th of February and today’s date is July 9th saying that i have to wait 60 days n my 60 days has passed n mine still saying in process with no other message n code 152

  138. Sasha says

My bar is gone in it says still processing it will let me know when a date available n I did my taxes on the 1st of Feb

    • Sarah says

My bar was gone for a month, it just came back and said approved yesterday and gave me a date it would be sent, but that was after they took some of my taxes, due to prior tax obligations, they couldn’t tell me what the obligation was though!!

    • Chris says

Yeah, I filed on Feb 11 the taxes were accepted on the 13. I figured I would have my refund around March 1st. Well, I was wrong around the end of February, my bars disappeared. I checked every day nervous that something was wrong. Tried to call the IRS on March 13th and couldn’t get anyone on the phone the wait times were outrageous. Finally on March 16th my bars reappeared and I now had an expected date of refund. Only because I am in desperate need of my refund was it later than it should have been. Just my luck but at least it’s on it’s way and I will hopefully have it in the next few days barring no other problems or obstacles.

    • Lena says

I did my return 2/25 EIT. Accepted the next day. At the 21st day it changed to still being processed with tax code 152.

    • Keith Hurte says

Yes mine is gone, got accepted on the 14th of Feb. All it keeps saying is still processing, they really need to tighten up seriously. We shouldnt have to wait that long for our own money.. This is really unacceptable and outrageous

  139. Barbara Brown says

I was trying to say earned income credit and child tax credit and filed on the 8th of Feb accepted on the 10th of Feb so when should I start counting the 21 days also my bar disappeared on the 1st of March

    • LRH says

You suppose to count from Feb. 10
To me I believe it started from March 1st processing your refund.
You should receive your Refund no later than the 21st of March

I think IRS process refunds in differently in different states. I’m not sure. Just my opinion.
Cause some people have already Gotten there refund deposit into there accounts already. And they had filed after you.

    • Lindsay says

I looked at the estimated refund schedule based on the date the IRS completed the ID verify over the phone. The chart says March 12th, … Just checked the WMR today and it says it will be in my bank March 13th!! Not too far off 🙂 ! Took long enough.

      • Lindsay says

P.S. I was actually accepted way back on January 28th, but the IRS didn’t start their count until I completed the ID Verify portion ( Feb 27th ), which came in the form of a letter in the mail with further instructions.

  140. Barbara Brown says

Are you supposed to count 21 day from the the irs accepted your refund are 21 days from Feb 15 because I filed on Feb 8th got accepted on the 10th of Feb had a bar it disappeared but saying still processing a date will be provided I have rich and ctc

    • Bill says

Be from the 15th this is just wrong what is going on this year ours got messed up by hr block cuz they didn’t put in our health insurance right .so they put in our file to take $50 off of next year’s yea ok….

  141. Kristy says

I filed and accepted January 30. Still processing. No letter, still processing on war. Filed hoh with 2 kids. Never have I had to wait this long. Something is definitely wrong this year.

  142. Bill says

Also thought I should let you all know if you have filed taxes already and it’s been 28 or more days then you have a problem on your return so keep an eye out in the mail it took 6 weeks for our letter to come after we filed so good luck….

  143. Bill says

Got out IRS letter today had to go get taxes fixed at hr block all because the lady didn’t put down our health insurance right so have to send in a 1095a .. already in the mail and I’m so pi$$ed about it but let me tell you that Market Place Insurance is the worst ..and of course we get an it’s worker that actually does their job all over one little x is the reason probably needed a magnifine glass to see it so now 6-8 weeks…

    • Pearl says

I just got mine approved on the warm status Yesterday my refund will be deposit into my account 03-13-19 no later than the 03-19-19
I filed on 02-15-19 been accepted that same day on the 02-15-19. So al that time from the 02-15-19 was on the warm status “Recieve” They started processing my refund on 02-27-19. So count the day they started processing my refund and now they approve it on the warm red bar status. So from the 02-27-19 to 03-13-19. So the IRS never reviewed the day it has been accepted. Until 02-27-19. That’s the day they release refunds. So to say this I don’t know if IRS works different in different states. I’m in Florida. I spoke to a live IRS agent on the 03-06-19 and she told they were processing my refund sorry about the delays. She told me that they’re trying very hard to process refunds in March 2019 and to be released ASAP! If you don’t get a refund in March you maybe still under a review. She were accurate with mine. When I went back to check on where is my refund on 03-08-19 at 11pm the status change. My warmer bars came back on the display saying “Approved” and refund deposit 03-13-19 . Before that, it use to say on the 02-27-19 still processing and give a date when available. Now it has been approved. I hope this will ease some of you taxpayers mind. Here’s the # 800 829-0922 I spoke with the IRS agent you will not wait for a long time either. Either call before 10am or call after 6pm that way you won’t be waiting for a long time. I hope this message will help.

  146. Mrs. Taylor says

I believe this is just a way not to pay us our taxes back because never in my 20+ years of filing has there been a problem like this but the man in the white house never has paid taxes or gave them to the government so they need to be held accountable for keeping my refund over 60 days. Who is over the IRS? Does anybody know? It is my second review and I want my money. This is why we should not be paying taxes because we can’t get our money on time. Last year it was an upgrade this year it is because we have kids like where is our $$$$$?

  147. Pearl says

I spoke with an IRS agent yesterday 03-06-19 at 6:30pm
I filed on 2-15-19 been accepted that same day 2-15-19. Our per conversation she told me that they had started processing my refund 2-27-19. So she told me to count the day they start processing the refund. Give it to 21 days. So that will be 2-27-19 that they had start processing my refund. That if you files EIC and ACTC or baby tax credit Lol.. so IRS agent told me I should receive my refund between 3-14-19 or 3-20-19 around those dates. Plus IRS agent told me sometimes the refund can be deposit into your account without a date. So apparently you should check your bank accounts every day anyway.. even if they didn’t put a DDD in the system.. I had a good genuine IRS agent I spoke with. This is the number 800 829-0922 I spoke with a live agent it only took 20 minutes for a agent to come on the phone. I didn’t have to wait for a long time.
IRS agent gave me actual date when will you should receive your refunds. Plus IRS agent said to me that they’re working on those refunds as soon as possible. I ask her will I wait 45 days. She said NO!! It will be in peoples deposit ASAP!! Start of MARCH 2019. I hope this will ease some peoples minds.

    • LMJ says

Not all your information is accurate. I live in California and I received my refund at midnight on February 27th. I also claimed EITC. Each Irs agent doesnt state the same thing some are just as confused. However most of the information they have given me has been 90% accurate and itsc ??v. accurate information from the date it states meaning February 27th for those who claim eitc thats the earliest date they will start sending refunds for those in particular. But some people who didnt claim eitc gave received checks earlier then February.

        I’m in Florida

I filed 2/3(filed kids) And within 48hrs my refund was received. Then days later lost the color bar and said ‘your refund is still being processed a date will be provided when available. Stayed that way up until this morning(around 7ish) it went back to the colored bars and said approved. My refund date is 3/11 hoping to see it on or b4 that day!

    • Tiffany Byer says

Please update the rest of us so we can so we can all have an idea ok’d the amount of time this is going to take.

    • Jenn Workman says

      • Ash says

Yes!!! I called the bank this morning turns out my refund was deposited into my daughter’s account on the 7th!! I don’t kno why exactly but if you have a shared or multiple accounts check them because it could have gone there. According to the irs status bars it was “sent to the bank on the 11th” but have been deposited the same day I made this. Good luck y’all I hope everyone gets theirs asap!

  150. josue says

I just read a bunch of comments and i scared myself a lil. i filed on 2/22 and accepted same day, i usually have my DD by now. Has anyone filed around the same time and got their refund yet

  151. Tee says

I filed Jan 31.. & still nothing.. the website is only saying “processing & a date will be provided when available” so if we have to wait 21 days from Feb 15… would that mean we should start seeing a update Friday or maybe Saturday?

  152. Adler o Solis says

yes, this happend to me too. tax still being processed and bars disapeared with code 152 for almost 10 days. I found out that, I had a error in my income tax because IRS sent me a letter requesting information of my 1095-A 3 days ago which I sent it back same day that arrived the letter.
double check your home mail box. You never know.

  153. Mar26 says

My husband file his tax feb 10 and when he check where is my refund it say we cannot find your income tax return! what’s that mean?

  154. M Ramirez says

I filed On Jan 31st.. I contacted The IRS on Feb 28th After I was told to wait after the 27th due to the Child Tax Credit…. So I called and the agent said she could not find my File for 2018…. She put in a request for A Tech to call me back but it would take up to 30 days for a return call.

The IRS App statues showed up as accepted at First but now the Bars are gone and the Statues shows as” Processing.” And A Date will be provided. How does there website show as accepted and or processing but the agent could not find my file!?

Any ways I did receive my state Check DD 2 weeks after Filing with no problem

NOT Sure Why it is taking them so long. I hope we can get our Money soon.

  155. Barbara Brown says

I filed on Feb 8th accepted on the 10th of Feb had a bar all the way up until the 8th of March then bar disappeared and it says still being processing I don’t know what to do

  156. Katrina Beasley says

How can you speak to someone about filing you and collecting off your name without authorization

  157. Bill says

I have not even checked the wmr site for a week now since they said their site had problems and they was trying to fix it ….

  158. Wilbur Fisher says

Says refund was accepted on feb 21 but 1st bar and has not changed i know people that filled after me and already got theirs have one child and this is just crazy, seems if you file the truth then you get held up. Anyone got different message on website?

  159. Jade says

So my spouse filed my taxes February 11th for me and missed a number on my direct deposit. This ****** me off because I’m moving to a different state this month. So the IRS told me that my checked should be mailed by March 5, which is today. The only thing I’m concerned about is how accurate that date is. I’m really not trying to leave my check in the hands of the man I’m divorcing smh.

  160. Krystal says

My bars disappeared today an i E-filed the 14th, accepted the 14th, I got my state today, however nothing on my federal, just the same old being processed crap, I wonder if those who was suppose to get theirs the 27th have gotten theirs yet? Beings how they said it was supposed to be fixed on the 4th or something like that…. this hole tax year experience has been terrible, alot of waiting an anticipation, an not knowing bcuz the government is doing such a poor job at keeping us updated about the issues their having with OUR money, as well as all these new reviews, like how long dose this really take, they need to have a time limit put in play, bcuz ppl count on this money, but yeah this is getting ta be beyond ridiculous, has anyone that has a ddd of the 6th received their refund yet? Is their supposed ta be another update done on this system or sumthing beings how I’ve red abt glitches an all kind of crazy crap. So many questions I need answers too, point blank what I’m getting at is where is our money, this is crazy!!!

  161. jacqueline says

Does anyone know if it will affect when you get your refund if you call more than once? I just been reading and it seems like if you call and get different people tell you different things?

  162. Victoria Ponce says

I had file on Jan. 24 for my income tax and got accept it on January 24th but When I go to check on the status of my refund it tells me that I have put the wrong information in so I don’t know what to do

  163. alexis blackwell says

I filed, irs accepted feb 2…… I e-filed and chose direct deposit. Still says “processing” in irs tool. I can’t get a human on any numbers they give. How can I find out why it’s taking so long??

    • Tweety Tweet says

Press 1 for English, then press 2 for Personal Income Taxes, and then push 1, then 3, then 2, then 0# when it asks for your social security number, then 2

  164. Katia Leyva says

My status bar has been at processing for a 10 days now, how long is it taking to change to approved or not. Previous years my refund only take 3 weeks after filing by paper mail and it’s in my bank account by the third week. What is going on

  165. Tanya says

When I checked Where’s my refund app it says Your tax return is still being processed. A refund date will be provided when available but the lines disappear .. did this happen to anyone else

  166. Bill says

Don’t expect until 21 days after Feb 15th some did get there’s but it’s like 30 million that didn’t start getting processed until then due to the EITC AND CTC…

      • Bill says

They say you can count weekends but I don’t believe anything this government says I do know it’s been a bunch of b.s. this year with the tax refunds cuz many people count on them to play catch-up and get some relief for a couple months….

    • Ashley says

I have the exact same file date and acceptance date they just approved it over the weekend and says should be sent to bank by 3/6 but if it’s not there by 3/11 to call them I had the EITC & the ACTC, so I know that’s why it took so freaking long but I’m meticulous cause I accidentally put my domestic partners account info in and even tho Walmart money card reps said should be fine everything in reading online is a contradiction of that? Did anyone know of it will go through idk why a two would say yes if it won’t, plus I have had like 20 plus paychecks go into it so idk just freaking out.. Any ones advice would help!

      • Carol says

Your account information has to match. They will not deposit the refund to an account associated to another name.

      • Wells says

I have the same me date mine said the 6th my chase account has no record of it on file or anything pending

    • Rodney brozek says

My DDD date is today as well. Did you get yours? I seen that it could take until 11 o’clock Idk though

      • Wells says

WHEre did you here 11. Mine was sent to bank on 6th and chase has no record of the pending transaction and can’t help. How do I figure this out

  167. Renee McDowell says

Do anyone have a number I want to to speak to human being and not the automated system please some reach to me i tried over 6 800 number still no one.

  168. Sarah says

Its the 4th, and still no federal refund..I haven’t gotten an offset notice, and according to IRS2GO app my refund we sent to my turbo tax card..so hopefully its here later today or tomorrow. Quite frankly, this is crap..it shouldn’t be taking this long for people to get their money..

  169. Brea C. says

So I feel like the IRS is playing in my face. I Filed Jan 26th, got accepted for both Jan 28th ( When they started taking them!) I already knew my state was being taken for tickets, they took the full amount. But my fed was approved, and amount was approved right?! So they gave me a date and stated that my refund would be sent to my bank 2/27. like everybody else wondering like where is the refund come 2/27. So they gave a new date which was today right? so I log on to IRS wheres my refund and GUESS what, They told me my WHOLE refund that was APPROVED and sent to my bank, is now being used towards a debt! HOW?! I called them when this delay started happening and they said I didn’t owe a debt! so I honestly don’t know what is going on but IM BEYOND FED UP!!!

    • april says

mines says the exact same thing that my refund was applied to a debt…im thinking its the system then if someone else got the exact same msg…

      • Brea C. says

Did your status at first say that your money would be sent to the bank on 2/27? Do you Owe anyone? Everytime i call the BSF who sends out refunds state that i dont owe anything smh im getting really annoyed. I dont see how they can play with out money like that!

  170. Andreanna Pinkney says

Is anyone else is getting the message that says your “tax refund is still being processed, refund date will be provided when available”

    • Jermaine Funches says

I haven’t gotten mines either. Mines was accepted on 1/22/19. I been waiting since then with the message of it still being processed. I’m hoping it comes this week.

    • Rae Hicks says

Yes. Because of the EIC, no refunds were processed until on or after 2/26. The graph displayed 3/12 for direct deposit and 3/15 for paper. Now mine did change to saying delayed last week but it has now gone back to processing again. Sad but beyond our control unfortunately.

      • Bill says

That’s not true about the EIC and CTC I know several people that have received theirs already.. it’s 21 days after Feb 15th unless under review….

    • Oner Rose says

yes even tho we file a injured spouse form it should only take 11 to 14weeks,going on 16 last year it took 5 months.

  171. Tiff says

Anyone who filed on or around 2/12 with eic an direct dep, with a new baby , is the only thing changed for me , anyone else on 2/12 waiting , An I’m hopeful it comes today 3/4 I seen it updates 12am -6am if anyone does Rec finally lmk thanks

    • sam says

filed mine and accepted feb 4. called irs multiple times and got the same answer, “if you havent received your refund yet, then you are part of the 10% that they are reviewing and allow them another 45 days and dont expect a return until april 25.”, i know multiple people who got the same answer. with that being sad, dont bank on getting a return anytime soon

  172. TIFFANY DOrsey says

Any news yet I filed 2/12 accepted turbo with Eic , wmr says Code 152 basic code, I have direct dep , an I cannot get any info on wmr, anyone else file 2/12 get there’s yet

  173. Krystal says

So has anyone gotten their taxes today on the 4th that was supposed to get them in the 27th? I have still yet to even receive a ddd an i filed an was accepted Feb 14th. I filed with EITC, but still 19 days later nothing an still just says being processed smh I’m so overwhelmed by all of this. Wish they would just get it together.

    • Andreanna Pinkney says

I’m hoping for a ddd this week cause it be month now and I haven’t gotten anything all mine is saying is still being processed and return will be provided when available is this what yours saying

      • Krystal says

Mines not even saying a date will be provided when available, just keeps saying it’s been received and it’s processing. Smh

      • KrystAl says

Theh are pulling returns for manual review even if theb made it through first review with no errors. I have been waiting for 4 weeks it passed initial review nd was oulled feb 18th for another review and its still processing thats ll my status or irs can tell me. They said can take up to additional 45 days! Smdh!

      • Daliya says

      • Jenny says

Has anyone received their refunds yet?? I’m just curious cause I was supposed to get mine yesterday

    • sam says

filed mine and accepted feb 4. called irs multiple times and got the same answer, “if you havent received your refund yet, then you are part of the 10% that they are reviewing and allow them another 45 days and dont expect a return until april 25.”, i know multiple people who got the same answer. with that being sad, dont bank on getting a return anytime soon.

  174. Queen says

My refund was also rejected by my BOA on the 27th of February the date it was deposited,a paper check will be issued,I don’t know how long that will take. I’m still waiting.

  175. Pearl says

These peoples have dates when there money will be deposit. DD 02/27/19 remember it takes 5 days. The 27th and the 28th is the end of the month. It should be in their accounts either Monday or Tuesday no later than Wednesday of March 5,6 are these the beginning of file taxes from Jan 29th to February 15, 2019? For EIC and ACTC? If you have Credit Union deposits it should get there faster in 3 days or less . If you with Regular Bank far as Wells Fargo and Chase and Bank of America and other Banks it will take up to 5 to 7 days to be deposit.

  176. Pineapple0201 says

We filed feb3 , accepted the 4th. Bars disappeared around mid Feb , finally got ahold of someone at Irs and they said under review , probably just a random review , and that a letter was sent out . Haven’t received a letter as of yet . We had a new baby 2017, then our surprise baby last year . It’s extremely frustrating not knowing what’s really going on .

  177. Vanessa Robinson says

Mine was accepted on Feb 18 but it says reference 9001 on where’s my refund. I got my state already anyone have this problem

    • Simon says

I had the 9001 issue as well. I looked it up and it said something about the SS number. However.mine eventually resolved. Not that i have gotten it yet. You should be ok. You can also look up yhe referance.number for more info.

  178. Rain Ingraham says

So I filed in the middle of February ish. As of the 26th my refund had been sent to my bank. 27Th. 28th come & go. Still saying it had been sent to my bank, but nothing has been deposited. I check my status tonight & it says that I requested direct deposit but they are unable to complete my request & a paper check will be mailed out by March 7th & should I not receive it by I think it said April 11th. To then contact them… Has anyone had this happen? I bank with USAA & I’ve had the same bank for years!

  179. Jessica says

I filed my taxes February 13th and they were accepted. I received my State Offset Notice in the mail already from February 20th because they always take my state taxes. My taxes have yet to be approved and the IRS2GO app has the message about Child Tax Credit and Earned Income still and refunds starting to go out February 27th. Does anybody have any idea why I received my Offset Notice if my taxes haven’t even been approved yet? Also, does anybody have any idea when taxes will be sent out to bank accounts if I’m not under review as far as I know?

  180. Jamie says

I filed the same day, 14th, and mine still says accepted. Hasn’t changed to approved yet. Mine has never taken this long! I’ve never had to wait more than 10 days.

  181. Bill says

That one statement is not true if you filed between Feb 1st thru the 10th that your under review..wmr website has a glitch in it on the schedule when you should have received by 27th you will get them on the 4th …they are trying to get it fixed…and they also said that wasn’t the only issue with their site… Hang in there everyone trust me I do not trust this government at all but this is probably true due to so many not getting it when it said…

    • Brittany George says

Its the 4th and I still havent received mine. When I called on friday I was told to give them 45 days from March 11th. I filed and was accepted 2/4. Im extremely frustrated when i called the IRS i received no help. I know someone that works at the help desk here in my town and she said if I dont hear anything this week to call because she even said that this is incorrect.

  182. Diana says

You see I have H&R Block and the text messages they send us it says I should receive my refund by the 4th, but on the irs it shows a due date on the 27th! I’m so frustrated and impatient!

  183. Tara says

Im in same boat this is completely insane never had this issue DD was always in account on the By date!!!!!

  184. s says

I meant, if you havnt got anything back by now and you filed with eic credit, then you are part of the 10% that is under review and if you call the irs they will tell you give them another 45 days to process and do not expect your return until at least april 25th. Other people responding to this site are saying the exact same thing.

  185. MoneyHungryWoman says

I filed late January and was told by ATC that it was accepted January 25th. Ive been checking every day since the first release date that was supposed to happen on the 23rd. It had a flag on mine that said there was a delay in my return. I called they said a letter was being sent out but they could not tell what for…I checked again today just in case and now its saying my return is being processed…anybody else went through or going through this? Never received a date and people who filed after me literally two weeks ago already received theirs.
