Filing taxes doesn’t have to be complicated, and ezTaxReturn is designed with that idea in mind. The software keeps things simple, guiding you through federal and state returns without extra features getting in the way. For filers with uncomplicated tax situations, it offers a fast path from paperwork to refund.

For many military filers with relatively simple tax situations, ezTaxReturn’s no-frills design can be a good fit. The software focuses on core filing needs, which may appeal to service members who want to file quickly without navigating advanced features they may not need.

Why File With ezTaxReturn?

ezTaxReturn Promises to Make Filing Your Returns a Breeze

There are plenty of companies offering return-filing software out there, and most of them promise that you’ll find it easy to work through.

While it’s true that these programs do offer assistance, most try to cater to too wide a market. They want to be able to help those who have deductions, extra income and so on. Those extra questions can become tedious when they don’t apply to you, and you end up overpaying for features you don’t need.

ezTaxReturn has overcome this problem by simplifying their offering. Their software is perfect for beginners because it only deals with straightforward returns. If you have a more complicated tax situation, like self-employment, this software is not for you.

ezTaxReturn Lets You File Your Returns With Full Confidence

With ezTaxReturn, you set up an account, answer some questions, and then let the software guide you through the process.

The difference this time is that you don’t need to know the first thing about tax law. The questions are designed to weed out tax issues that it cannot deal with.

If your situation is better dealt with by a tax consultant, you’ll find this out early on. For those with simpler returns, you’ll whiz through the questions and be confident that your return is correct.

It’s Simple in the Extreme

This software does not have a bunch of extra features that will weigh you down. It’s simple – you answer the questions, and the software makes recommendations.

When you’re all done, you review the answers and file. The company promises that you’ll get an IRS confirmation of acceptance within 24 hours.

What If My Situation Is More Complicated?

If that’s the case – for example, if you have rental income or need to file in multiple states – this is not the program for you to use.

ezTaxReturn is built for those with straightforward returns, not to handle more complex situations.

However, there are several other online filing software options such as TurboTax, H&R Block, FreeTaxUSA, and several others that will have the features you are looking for.

Worried About an Audit?

Purchasing Audit Defense Protection for $39.99 can provide you with peace of mind that you will be prepared in the event of an IRS audit.

The support includes document review, advice in responding to the IRS, and the organization and attendance of audit appointments if they are in-person. If you are interested in ezTaxReturn communicating directly with the IRS, you will need a power of attorney from you.

How Much Does ezTaxReturn Cost?

The cost depends on the simplicity of your return. If you don’t have dependents or tax credits (besides the Earned Income Tax Credit) and your income is below $50,000, you may have a simple return and qualify for free federal filing. State filing will cost $35.99.

If your tax situation is not quite that simple, there are three options priced as follows:

  • Federal: $35.99
  • State: $39.99 per state
  • State and federal: $75.98

There are other costs to consider as well.

  • Audit support: This optional extra will cost you $42.99. Your support will continue until the audit is complete.
  • Online access: Free access to returns filed through the company lasts three years. You can download them or access them at no charge during this period. If you would like to download a return that is older than three years, you’ll be charged $9.99.
  • Copies: You can opt to have a copy of your return mailed to you. You’ll have to pay for this, regardless of how much time has passed. The fee is $19.99 for standard mail and $34.99 if you choose to have it shipped overnight.
  • Insurance: You can choose to take out Amended Return Insurance. This costs $12.99 per return. Without this in place, you’ll have to pay a fee of $22.99 in order to file an amendment.

The charges are only due once you actually file your return. This means you can take the software for a spin first to see if it will work for you.

Pricing is subject to change during the tax season. Check ezTaxReturn’s website for the most up-to-date pricing.

ezTaxReturn Plans

There are just three versions to choose from.

This is part of the charm of this program – you don’t have to struggle to find out which version of a particular software package is right for you.

With some of the programs out there, you’ll go through most of the motions just to find that it’s not the right option. Here, your options are simple:

State

This version will help you complete and file any state return you may need to.

Should you have moved to a new state or states during the tax year in question, you’ll have to complete one for each state.

Federal

This option covers your returns directly with the IRS.

State and Federal

This is not a version so much as a special offer.

If you need help completing both returns, this option allows you to complete both transactions in one fell swoop.

Potential Drawbacks of ezTaxReturn

The company states that it will get you the best refund possible and guarantees that the calculations are accurate.

If you find that you can get a bigger refund (or have a lower amount owing) and you submit documentation within 60 days of filing with ezTaxReturn, they will refund your money. This guarantee is not available to those who filed for free.

If you think you’ll need to speak to someone to complete your returns, another product that offers live support may be better for you.

While the website offers a detailed FAQ page and seven-days-a-week email support, it lists phone-based support as “currently unavailable.”
