Benefits of a Home Security System

In some ways, having a home security system is similar to buying an insurance policy. You don’t think you need it, until you do. But there is more than just the peace of mind that comes with installing a home security system. Home security systems can deter burglars and other intruders. Installing a home security system may also help you save money on your homeowner’s insurance premiums.

Here are some of the major benefits of installing an actively monitored home security system like those offered by ADT:

Crime Deterrence:

In 2019, more than 1.1 million burglaries occurred in the United States, according to the FBI.

But, thieves may move on to another target if they discover an actively-monitored home security system at your house.

In addition to deterring home burglaries, having a video doorbell can deter porch thieves and encourage mail and delivery workers to be careful with your orders.

Property Protection:

Some home monitoring systems, like ADTs, can detect fire, smoke, and carbon monoxide. Advanced systems may even alert your monitoring company of burst pipes and environmental disasters.

Homeowner’s Insurance Premium Reductions:

Your homeowners insurance provider may offer discounts for installing a home security system, especially if you security company actively monitors your system.

Peace of Mind:

Phone apps that connect to your system’s cameras and motion sensors can help you keep an eye on your home and your loved ones, even when you’re away from home. If you can’t connect to an app where you are, knowing a professional is monitoring your system can give you peace of mind.
