When your family is in the middle of a PCS, the last thing you want to think about is how much it’s going to cost to set up life at your new duty station. Recent reports show that, on average, a military family will spend upwards of $5,000 for each move, and that number can grow even higher during international moves. Thankfully, many service providers, like Xfinity, try to do their part to help relieve the financial burden of frequent military moves with discounts and offers.

Military families know with each move comes additional expenses like:

  • Deposits on a new residence
  • Utility set-up fees

Additionally, you’ll often need to find new providers for:

These service providers often require set-up and installation fees you’ll need to cover.

The costs add up quickly when you’re moving from an OCONUS location since you’re limited on what types of things you can bring back into the country.

If you’ve just moved or are preparing to do so, you’ve probably got a long to-do list to tackle. One way to make a move less stressful is to figure out your internet service provider ahead of time. That way, you can arrive at your new home with your installation service scheduled, minimizing that time feeling “disconnected.”

In CONUS locations, you often have several choices when it comes to which company to use for internet services ranging from locally based companies to national chains. Xfinity is one of the largest companies offering internet services. Xfinity also offers a military discount. We’ll dive into the details later.

  • TV & Streaming
  • Mobile
  • Home Phone
  • Home Security

Internet

Xfinity is one of several companies that offers military discounts on high-speed internet service through monthly or prepaid plans.

On its website, a quick survey asks you:

  • Your zip code.
  • The number of devices you’ll connect to your network at a time.
  • What you’ll use internet service for (web browsing & email, gaming, streaming TV and movies, etc.)

With that information, Xfinity recommends the ideal internet speed for you and your family’s needs.

TV & Streaming

Xfinity TV offers two types of television and streaming packages.

X1

Xfinity’s X1 service provides live TV with 100s of channels, streaming apps and music, DVR, and movies on demand. Additional features include personalized reminders and stats for your favorite sports teams, parental controls, screen time limits, and kid-friendly content. X1 also comes with a voice-controlled remote.

Flex

Xfinity Flex is a less expensive option that includes only streaming services and no live TV. Flex is included with any Xfinity internet package.

Mobile

Xfinity Mobile service is available exclusively to Xfinity internet customers. There are no activation fees, no phone line access fees, and plans start as low as $15 a month. Combining services is an excellent option if you’re looking for convenience when it comes to managing bills.

Home Phone

Local and international calling is offered through Xfinity’s home phone service. Xfinity even has a feature that allows you to stay connected to a landline number via an app when you leave the house. This way, you’ll never miss a call.

Home Security

Get peace of mind with Xfinity’s customizable home security systems. Depending on which plan you choose, features include 24/7 monitoring, the ability to arm and disarm your system via an app, door and window sensors, and more.

Bundles

Xfinity offers several security bundles and promotions to make settling into your new duty installation easier. In addition to internet service, you can choose to bundle television, home phone, mobile, and home security services to create a combination that’s right for your needs.

Bundling tech services with one company can sometimes save you money, time, and the stress of having to pay several different bills.
