2012 Military Pay Chart - Active DutyThese charts only include base pay, and do not include Basic Allowance for Subsistence (BAS), Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH), special duty pay, or other forms of military compensation. Your total pay and compensation with these additional benefits will vary based on your location and other factors.

You can use these military pay charts for reference, or for quick calculations. Because these numbers are rounded, you should visit the DFAS website for the official pay charts which reflect each pay rate to the exact cent. You will need those numbers for running official pay calculations. But these pay charts should work for most informal applications, such as estimating your monthly pay, your retirement pay, and similar activities.

2012 Military Pay Chart – Officers

Here are the pay charts for officers with less than two years of service, up to 18 years of service. Officers with more than four years of active duty enlisted service may qualify for Prior Enlisted Officer Pay, which will be covered in the charts below.

Notes: Basic pay for an O-7 to O-10 is limited by Level II of the Executive Schedule which is $14,975.10. Basic pay for O-6 and below is limited by Level V of the Executive Schedule which is $12,141.60.

While serving as Chairman, Joint Chief of Staff/Vice Chairman, Joint Chief of Staff, Chief of Navy Operations, Commandant of the Marine Corps, Army/Air Force Chief of Staff, Commander of a unified or specified combatant command, basic pay is $20,587.80. (See note 1 above)

2012 Prior Enlisted Officer Pay Chart

Prior enlisted officers may be eligible for a higher pay rate based on time in service and other criteria. The pay scale offers the following note: *Applicable to O-1 to O-3 with at least four years & one day of active duty or more than 1460 points as a warrant and/or enlisted member. See Department of Defense Financial Management Regulations (DoDFMR) for more detailed explanation on who is eligible for this special basic pay rate.
