Academy Sports offers a 10 percent Military and First Responders Discount on the full purchase amount before tax.
The offer is available online and in-store and typically includes most sporting goods, outdoor gear, footwear, apparel, and accessories. Some categories such as gift cards, licenses, and certain regulated items may be excluded. Customers should review the terms during each promotional period since exclusions can vary.
Who Qualifies for the Academy Sports Military Discount
The Academy Sports Military Discount is available to military personnel from all five branches, including:
- Active-Duty
- Veterans
- Retirees
- Reserves
- National Guard
First responders also qualify, including firefighters, EMTs, law enforcement officers, and 911 dispatchers.
How to Redeem the Military Discount Online and In-Store
Online Redemption:
- Create or sign in to an ID.me account, which Academy uses to verify eligibility
- Add items to your cart.
- When the discount is active, select the “Verify with ID.me” button on the Shopping Cart page before checkout.
- Once verified, the discount will automatically apply to the entire purchase.
In-store Redemption:
- Shop as usual.
- Present a valid military ID or proof of first responder status at checkout.
- The cashier will apply the 10 percent discount to eligible items.
When the Academy Military Discount is Active
Academy Sports does not run this discount year-round. The promotion typically appears around major patriotic and military holidays, including Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Veterans Day. Availability may vary each year, so checking Academy’s website or weekly ads during these periods is recommended.
During many Veterans Day seasons, Academy has offered the discount for several consecutive days leading up to November 11, though exact timelines may change.
