Whenever we move to a new base, I always enjoy our first visit to the Information, Tickets, and Tours (ITT) office. This is where you can get special military discount tickets for a variety of local attractions. There is an ITT office on most military bases. ITT should be your first stop when planning a vacation, day trip, date night, girls’ night, or anything fun!

The ITT Office is also a great place to visit if you are TDY to a base or you take a military Space-A flight to a new base you’ve never been to. They have the inside information (and discounts!) to help you have a memorable trip!

Save Money with ITT

Military Discount Tickets to Amusement Parks Across America

Many amusement parks offer special reduced rates for military families. But some of their special tickets cannot be purchased at the gate. You have to buy them in advance from your ITT office.

Here in California, we get amazing discounts on a huge list of attractions like Disneyland, Legoland, Sea World, and the San Diego Zoo. But no matter where you live, any base ITT office will have discount tickets for major national attractions like Disneyland, Disney World, Six Flags Theme Parks, or Medieval Times dinner tournaments. If we want to plan a trip or visit family in other states, our base ITT office also has discounts for museums and attractions around the country. You can find a complete list of national attractions at your local base ITT office.

Discounted Tickets to Local Tours, Sporting Events, and Tourist Attractions

The ITT office has tons of brochures, highlighting lesser-known local events alongside the major attractions. It’s a great way to get to know the area around your new base and discover a new part of the country after you move.

For example, the ITT office on our base has tickets for the movies, skiing at local resorts, wine tasting packages, major and minor league baseball games, and a Haunted Tour of the local city. Because of the ITT office, I learned that there is a minor-league hockey team nearby, and Urban Adventures (which are like scavenger hunts) in local cities. We even discovered a fun Pirate Dinner experience that would be perfect for my son’s birthday! The friendly lady behind the desk gave me lots of advice about local camping locations for children and taking a carriage ride through local wineries.

All these programs offer special military discount prices, which are sometimes not available on their websites. You can purchase tickets for any of the events by calling or visiting the ITT office on base and bringing a military ID. As a military spouse, I have been able to pick up tickets without my military service member present. This was especially useful when my family visited while he was deployed!

Military Discounts on Vacations

I was surprised to learn that you can use your ITT office to plan vacations or family reunions. ITT offers vacation packages with special rates for military families. You can get ski lift packages or a five-day pass to Disney theme parks. If you live near the coast, you can spend the day on a local tour boat or take a cruise out to an island.

To plan something more exotic, check out the Armed Services Vacation Club, which partners with ITT to provide discount vacations to service members and their families. The Armed Services Vacation Club can help you book a hotel or resort stays for special prices. Their most popular option is a week-long stay for $350 using space available (Space-A) options with partner resorts. Membership to the Club is free, but you can pay to upgrade and receive additional benefits. Whether you are planning a weekend getaway for two, or a weeklong family reunion, you will find the best deals through ITT.

ITT has Discounted Rates for Tours and Cruises Around the World

If you are planning something special for post-deployment or an anniversary, then ITT can assist you with a trip to remember anywhere in the world. They offer tour groups and vacation packages to popular destinations like Europe, the Holy Land, or China.

This is a great option if you don’t know much about the local culture or how to find your way around a foreign country. Traveling with a tour group means that your tour guide, accommodations, and some meals are already included. ITT also has package deals on popular cruise lines. So if you want to enjoy a luxurious vacation, but don’t want to spend a lot of time planning, ITT can make that happen.

Your local ITT office should definitely be your first stop, whether you’re planning a date night, a weekend getaway, or the trip of a lifetime. I love experiencing the different culture and local attractions at every military base we visit. The ITT office has helped me make the most of each location, while saving our family a lot of money. So what are you waiting for? Visit the ITT office on your base and start planning your next adventure today!

Norma, I have never paid sales tax on tickets purchased through ITT. But I would verify with each ITT office to be sure. Best wishes!

I’m trying to find out if my husband and I can get round trip to FL with the military. He is retired and disabled. Thank you.

  2. mickey says

You unfortunately are not active duty or retired so you would not qualify for an ID card. The discount is only applicable for active/retired military.

  3. Kim says

i have called the itt office and they say that I have to have a DOD id card to get the discounts on tickets they offer. I don’t have one I was honorably discharged from the army and was not in for 20 years. How are people who serve 4 or 6 years able to get discounts. do they not count. Something needs to be done.
