Discovery+ is a streaming service featuring more than 60,000 episodes of real-world programming from the Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, TLC, Travel Channel, Magnolia Network, HGTV and Food Network.
I am an avid watcher, and I recommend Discovery+ to anyone who wants to learn about beautiful locations around the world, practice cooking, redecorate their home or just can’t get enough of watching sun-kissed elephants lounging around a watering hole. Discovery+ has got all that covered and more.
The Discovery+ military discount was discontinued on June 1, 2023. New subscribers can no longer enroll, and the company has not relaunched or updated the program. A limited number of legacy subscribers who enrolled before the cutoff may still keep their discounted rate as long as they maintain an active subscription and remain eligible. Once canceled, the discount cannot be reinstated. Discovery+ does not currently offer any military, student, or veteran promotional pricing.
About the Discovery+ Military Discount
Eligible service members previously saved 40% on a monthly Discovery+ subscription through their military discount program.
United States and Canadian active-duty, reservist, and veteran service members were eligible to partake in the discount. Additionally, United States active-duty spouses could also utilize the discount.
Discovery + required verification through a third-party tool such as SheerID, and eligibility could be reverified periodically.
Discovery+ Military Discount Terms and Conditions
As of now, Discovery+ is still honoring military discounts for those who opened their account prior to the discount ending. However, they have the right to terminate the program entirely at any time.
Additionally, though the military discount is still applied, they have the right to change the price from time to time. If a price change were to occur, you will be notified at least thirty days prior, and you will be informed of the date any changes come to effect.
If you wish to terminate your subscription, you may do so by following the steps under “Cancellation” in the discovery+ Visitor Agreement or by providing notice to [email protected].
There is currently no student discount or alternative promotional pricing available through Discovery+.
Note: If you cancel your subscription with a military discount, you will not receive the discount again if you choose to re-subscribe. Once canceled, the legacy discount cannot be reinstated under any circumstances.
Current Discovery+ Plans and Pricing for Military Members
Discovery+ pricing is already pretty affordable, regardless of the lack of military discount.
The Discovery+ Plan is $5.99 per month and offers unlimited access to their entire library.
The Discovery+ (Ad-Free) Plan is $9.99 per month, and it offers the same benefits as the former with the added bonus of not having to watch advertisements.
Both plans offer a seven-day free trial to determine if Discovery+ is right for you. These are the same prices military members receive, as no active military pricing is available.
Streaming Services That Still Offer Military Discounts
While Discovery+ discontinued their military discount, there are still several streaming platforms that offer their customers military discounts.
Disney+
Disney+ offers a military discount through The Exchange. U.S. service members, veterans, and their families can receive 25% off of the annual subscription price. This discount requires verification through The Exchange portal.
Paramount+
Paramount+ offers 50% off any plan for the lifetime of the subscription for military personnel, veterans, retirees, reservists, National Guard, and dependents. Verification is completed through SheerID.
Peacock
Peacock offers 12 months of Peacock Premium for $3.99 per month for active duty, reservists, National Guard, veterans, and retirees. Eligibility must be verified at signup.
Hulu
Hulu offers a military discount through The Exchange. U.S. service members, veterans, and dependents can receive 25% off of a Hulu (With Ads) monthly subscription. This discount cannot be combined with Hulu bundle offers.
