Netflix is one of the most popular online streaming services. Unfortunately, they do not currently offer a military discount. Netflix also no longer offers a free trial, and its pricing is the same for all customers. However, subscriptions can be cancelled, upgraded, or downgraded at any time with no cancellation fee, and the base-level monthly subscription remains affordable for most households.

While Netflix has never offered a recurring military discount, there are still several ways military families can save, including account sharing options and discounts available through certain wireless carriers. Below is a full breakdown of Netflix pricing, savings strategies, and streaming services that do offer military discounts.

My wife and I dropped cable after realizing we weren’t getting enough value for the price, even after paying for it for more than ten years. We decided a mix of over-the-air TV and streaming services would cover what we actually watched. I compared options like Amazon Prime, Hulu, Netflix, Redbox, and even league-specific sports services, and Netflix stood out for its unlimited streaming, large library of movies, shows, documentaries, and original content, and the best part is that it’s relatively inexpensive.

Does Netflix Offer a Military Discount?

I know what you’re thinking – let me see if I can swing a military discount on Netflix. I always asked for a military discount when I was still in the service, and many times, it worked. But military discounts usually work best for one-time purchases or buying something in person.

Unfortunately, Netflix doesn’t offer a military discount. They also no longer offer a free one-month trial. That offer went away in 2020. Now, you have to sign up for a Netflix account and you can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your account at will.

Why Doesn’t Netflix Offer a Military Discount?

Subscription-based services rarely offer recurring discounted pricing because they maintain one standardized rate for all users. Netflix also simplifies operations by keeping its subscription structure the same worldwide.

Even without a military discount, Netflix plans offer straightforward pricing and strong value compared to cable or premium channels.

Netflix PlanMonthly PriceAdsResolutionSimultaneous Streams
Standard with Ads$7.99Yes1080p2
