You probably already clip coupons, use cashback apps or shop at your base commissary to save money on groceries. But on Veterans Day, you may also save even more when you shop at two southeastern grocery store chains and a national drugstore.
We are working on validating Veterans Day discounts at grocery and drug stores for 2025.
On November 11, 2025, Publix and Food Lion grocery stores offer a 10% military discount to Veterans, active-duty, National Guard, and Reserve servicemembers. Walgreens and Duane Reade drugstores will also offer a 20% military discount through Veterans Day weekend.
In addition to grocery and drugstore savings, many restaurants and businesses across the country also offer special Veterans Day discounts, free meals, and exclusive deals for service members and their families.
Here’s what you need to know to save more on groceries on Veterans Day.
Publix Military Discount
Veterans and active military members can save 10% on groceries at Publix this Veterans Day. You’ll need to show a military ID, and some exclusions will apply.
Publix Military Discount Eligibility
To receive a military discount at Publix, you must present acceptable proof of service at checkout, which includes:
- Military ID cards, such as a Geneva Conventions ID or Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC)
- Veteran ID cards
- Discharge documents, including DD-214 forms
- State-issued driver’s licenses with veteran designation
Publix Military Discount Exclusions
Below are the restrictions to the Publix Veterans Day deal:
- Prescriptions
- Online orders
- Alcohol
- Tobacco
- Gift cards
- Lottery tickets
- Postage stamps
- Money services
- Applicable sales taxes
Food Lion Military Discount
Food Lion will also offer Veterans and active military members a 10% military discount on grocery store purchases on Veterans Day.
To receive the discount at more than 1,100 stores in 10 states, active-duty military, Veterans, and their families should present their MVP card and military identification at the time of checkout. This offer is only valid in-store and is not available through Food Lion To Go pickup or home delivery.
Food Lion Military Discount Exclusions
The 10% military discount does not apply to:
- Alcohol, including beer and wine
- Tobacco
- Gift cards
- Lottery tickets
- Pharmacy orders
- Postage stamps
- Store services
Walgreens/Duane Reade Military Discounts
Walgreens and Duane Reade stores are offering a four-day in-store discount to all Veterans and active-duty military personnel, as well as their family members, from Friday, November 10, through Monday, November 13.
Stores are offering 20% off regular price eligible store items.
Additionally, through the myWalgreens customer loyalty platform, members can enjoy extra benefits, including earning 1% Walgreens cash rewards storewide and 5% on Walgreens-branded products. MyWalgreens membership is free and can be obtained at checkout or by visiting the company’s website.
Walgreens stores will be open during regular business hours on Veterans Day. Additionally, 24-hour Walgreens pharmacies will be available, and select non-24-hour pharmacies will operate with modified hours. You can use the Walgreens store locator to check local store and pharmacy hours.
Walgreens Military Discount Eligibility and Exclusions
You can’t combine the discount with other promotions or coupons, including buy-one-get-one specials, or use the discount on:
- Alcohol
- Dairy
- Tobacco
- Stamps
- Gift cards
- Newspapers
- Magazines
- Money orders and transfers
- Transportation passes
- Lottery tickets
- Charitable donations
- Ephedrine or pseudoephedrine products
- Clinic services
- Prescriptions
- Pharmacy
- Bulk orders
- Out-of-stock or back-ordered items
- Sales tax
- Any purchases submitted for insurance reimbursement

Target’s Seasonal Military Discounts
Target does not offer a year-round military discount, but military members, Veterans, and military family members can save 10% in-store and on the Target website during select periods of the year.
Target’s military discount policy does not apply to alcohol, dairy milk, some electronics and video game systems, face masks, some toy brands, and other home goods brands. Always verify that an item is eligible for a military discount before you finalize your purchase.

Sam’s Club Military Discount
Sam’s Club offers a 60% discount on new memberships for qualified military personnel. Qualified military members who join Sam’s Club online here will receive a special membership offer.
If you’re already a Sam’s Club member, you can still save! Military members, Veterans and military spouses who renew a Sam’s Club membership in-store will receive a $10 coupon.
Costco Military Discount
Costco doesn’t offer free or discounted memberships, but this big-box retailer does have an exclusive military offer to join Costco as a new member and receive a Costco Shop Card.
To qualify for this new membership offer, go here and click the link for “Military Membership Promotion” near the bottom of the page. Military members, veterans, and military family members can get a $40 digital Costco gift card when signing up for an auto-renewal membership. To qualify, you must agree to auto-renewal of your Costco membership at the time of sign-up.
